Signs and Wonders

"Amazing", "phenomenal response", "sense of calm during the operation" ... these were just some of the words that we just heard from a resident who helped perform Lee Anne's surgery yesterday. She went on to say that, "You don't look like you just had major surgery yesterday" and I say she looks radiant. Come ...

Psalm 34:3-6 

Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

The resident also said that, "When we looked inside everything appeared normal...we didn't see a mass as such...we removed organs and structures (that are known to be preferential sites for ovarian cancer to spread) as more of a precaution". Further and perhaps more importantly, the surgeon's closing remarks in the clinical notes reads, 

"In summary, Lee Cowley had a metastatic stage IV ovarian cancer... she was rendered optimally debulked with microscopic residual." 

In other words we believe that the cancer has gone, a great and miraculous sign we believe is from Jesus our healer. As the bible reminds us..

John 4:46-53 NIV

Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.” The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.” The man took Jesus at his word and departed. While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.” Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed. 

We believe that this Jesus, that we read about in the Bible, is alive and working miracles today at the exact times and in the specific ways that so many of you pray for Lee Anne and our family.

I should also tell you that Lee Anne got up and walked all around the ward this morning twice and again this afternoon; something that the nurses were surprised about .. but for us just another miracle.
