Glorious Unfolding

Tomorrow is the day of the surgery. It is scheduled for 7:45am.

We are praying for our incredible surgeon/doctor Dr. Lillian Gien and all of her team at Sunnybrook. May she operate with great wisdom and skill. We thank God for providing such an amazing doctor for us. She has been a great advocate. Having young children herself, she has acted with great compassion on our behalf. God is using her as the very hands of our Great Healer, Jesus Christ.

When this diagnosis came at us, I prayed that God would "open the doors of our medical system and bring healing to my body." These doors have opened to us in undeniably miraculous ways.

Another miracle has been the wonderful hospitality of our friends who live near Sunnybrook. Kathleen and George, dear university friends, and Ken and Helen, our very best long-time family friends, who have opened up their beautiful homes to us. This has provided respite from the storm. Because of them, we have not had the stress of fighting traffic before early morning appointments.

Another blessing has been the provision of a parking spot at Kathleen's friend Kiersten's house. (A lovely 5min walk from the hospital). We are so grateful to Kiersten, who despite never having met us, has also opened her home to Nick while I am in hospital. Her family has offered Nick a comfortable place to sleep, and even offered to help make my morning kale juice that has kept me extra healthy this season!!!

God's words from the book of Joshua 1:9 are my battle cry. Our living God says,

"Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous, do not be terrified, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you may go"....to Sunnybrook and beyond.

A song by Stephen Curtis Chapman, the title track of his new collection by that name, has encouraged me greatly. Chapman's family walked through unimaginable tragedy and this collection is a testament to how God saw them through the darkest of times. It is my anthem of the moment. The song comes from a deep place of pain, yet gives great glory to our mighty God who heals us both physically and emotionally.

Wrapping it up, almost 18 years ago we had our wedding reception at the Sunnybrook Estates. (On the hospital grounds.) During the reception Nick claimed the verse from Jeremiah 29:11-13 over our lives:

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future . . . you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you."

Thank you for standing with us in prayer and support.

Love, Lee
